Mamie Reddy Rose
(1888-1919)
Founder Rose was one of the most popular young women on the Howard University campus. She was a member of several student organizations and won awards as a dramatic student. She was born in Beta, South Carolina on March 9, 1888 and on August 29, 1915, she married the Reverend James E. Rose. After only four years of marriage, she became ill and died on February 17, 1919 at the age of 31.
